“The outdoors has been a positive outlet for Aaron. It gives him an outlet, something that he can really be passionate about and put his love into it, and just be, and feel motivated to get up, get out and get going."
“Scouting has helped Aaron succeed. It has helped him with self-esteem… it’s given him a lot of opportunities to find out more about himself and the things that he’s good at. It’s a way for him to shine… ”
“As a mom on a fixed budget, I really appreciate the fact that when you buy one set of shoes, you can get a second pair at ½ off. This is beneficial buying for multiple children. I like the fact we get points for shopping and that we get additional discounts and birthday offers.” – Aaron's Mom, Jennifer
“I heard about the Real People project through my rewards account in an email. I thought it would be fun to submit a picture of my son, who does a lot and goes through a lot of different types of shoes, not thinking he would actually be chosen as a candidate.
I really felt this was going to be an amazing experience for Aaron in every way. As a child with learning disabilities, school is challenging for him. This project was a way for him to share with others, that there are a lot of wonderful kids out there who do a lot in their communities and have other gifts and talents. What a child is able to do in the classroom, doesn’t define who they are and what they can do in life. I was hoping that Aaron might be able to help others with his story. Kids are often labeled for what they can’t do at school, rather than what they can. Aaron is able to do a lot; I am hopeful that his story will help other kids out there, to be themselves and to strive to be the best at what they enjoy.
I was proud of how Aaron was able to articulate with Rack Room representatives through the selection process and through the filming. It wasn’t easy for him to talk about himself, what he does and to share who he is.
Aaron had the most incredible experience during the filming process. It was the time of his life! There are no words to really express what I felt as a mom watching him do what he loves. He had a blast working with the film crew and photographer! He was always full of questions and was engaged. Everyone made both him and his sister feel truly special. I was in genuine awe with the energy and passion that he displayed during the filming. He could have gone on for days filming and doing all that he enjoys: biking, hiking, fishing, cooking and camping.
I am so appreciative of the fun time that he had doing the Real People Project and that his community service was captured. Aaron enjoys doing things for others and has a real respect for those who have served in the military and those who continue to serve our country. It was touching to see him salute the resting places of those who gave up all, for the freedoms that we enjoy each day. I am proud of Aaron, in who he is, all that he represents and that he was able to set his vulnerabilities aside, to show others that are some amazing kids out there.
I loved that Aaron was able to have a real-life altering experience going through the selection process, the filming and the preparation for the filming. Rack Room Project not only highlights the footwear, but the real people who wear them and who they really are. Everyone has a story… the Rack Room Project just shows how really incredible the people who wear them are!” – Aaron's Mom, Jennifer
“This is Aaron and he knows no bounds in his Rack Room Shoes.”
